Save the Date – Proposed Merger Between P&DBA and the PVRSC
To the Penrith Basketball Community,
The Penrith & Districts Basketball Association (P&DBA), the Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre (PVRSC), and Penrith City Council (PCC) have engaged in ongoing discussions regarding the proposed merger between the P&DBA and the PVRSC. We’ve reached an important milestone: both organisations are now ready to host a Town Hall meeting and, ultimately, give you—the members of the P&DBA—the opportunity to vote on this merger.
These discussions have focused on the future of the facility and the association, with a shared commitment to ensuring the best outcomes for both our basketball members and the wider community. Our primary objectives remain to unify resources and capabilities, streamline operations, enhance member services, and create opportunities for growth.
After extensive consultations with all stakeholders, the P&DBA, PVRSC, and PCC are now ready to share information in a Town Hall Meeting with P&DBA members in February 2025.
To present the proposal, the P&DBA formally invites all members to attend a Town Hall meeting on Thursday, 20th February, at 7:00 PM in the upstairs function room at the PVRSC. We hope as many members as possible can attend, and reminders will be sent regularly to keep everyone informed.
The purpose of this Town Hall is to provide an overview of the discussions and the proposed merger. Representatives from the P&DBA, PVRSC, and PCC will be present to discuss the merger, outline the key considerations, and explain its rationale. All parties will be available to answer questions, ensuring members have all the necessary information to make an informed decision.
To ensure a productive and inclusive Town Hall meeting, we encourage members to submit their questions online using the form provided at the link below. Questions can be submitted up until the event, and we will prioritise addressing the key topics raised. During the session, there will also be dedicated time for your questions, which will be managed to maintain focus and ensure a valuable discussion for everyone. Additionally, members will have the opportunity to submit new questions online up to one week after the Town Hall. Responses to these questions will be provided via email following review by all representatives.

One week after the Town Hall meeting, the P&DBA will issue 21 days’ notice to all members for a Special General Meeting (SGM) to vote on the proposed merger. This process complies with the P&DBA’s constitution, and the final decision will rest with the P&DBA members. Please note that Life Members and paid Individual Members of the P&DBA are eligible to vote on the merger, Junior Members (those under the age of 18) are ineligible to vote.
This is a pivotal moment for basketball in Penrith, and we encourage all eligible members to get involved, ask questions, and make their voices heard in shaping the future of our basketball community.
