Junior Basketball – I want to Play
HOW DO I START?
For Primary School children who haven’t played basketball before, we recommend you start with either of our entry level programs such as:-
1. AUSSIE HOOPS (5-10 year olds)
2. HOOP TIME (11-13 year olds)
These programs are designed to teach the skills of basketball in a fun environment. New (8) eight week programs are started in each school term of the year.
For High School students we recommend commencing in our Junior competitions in a lower division and working your way up from there.
JOINING A CLUB TEAM – After our entry level programs you may then like to join one of our basketball club teams and play in our junior competitions from U10 Boys or Girls up to U18 Boys or Girls
SUMMER SEASON – Played from October to March
WINTER SEASON – Played from April to September
If you miss the start of a season, we will try to place players throughout the season, if a spot becomes available.
If you complete the Penrith information form via the link below, we will add you to our player waiting list, to be contacted for a start in the new season.
ENSURING YOUR CHILD/RENS TEAM CAN PLAY
For safety and duty of care, all children participating in the Junior Competition must have at least one [1] parent or a responsible adult present during their game at all times. We encourage all parents to participate and be involved in their child/ren’s games and time here during the Junior Competition.
Parents will be required to assist with scoring for junior games and we are always looking for parents to be involved with club teams as Coaches or Managers. Courses are conducted each season.
If you have been involved in coaching, managing or teaching previously, you will find that ‘generic’ coaching skills such as communication, group management, teaching and planning are usually ‘transferable’ between a range of sports. We always welcome new and interested volunteers to help the growth and development of our children through basketball.
